Universities may also request a CV, motivation letter, passport copy, and academic reference letters.

Visa Requirements

International students from outside the EU/EEA generally need a residence permit for the purpose of studies to study in Hungary. The application requires proof of admission, financial resources, accommodation, and health insurance.

Required documents generally include:

Valid passport
University admission/enrolment certificate
Proof of tuition fee payment, where applicable
Proof of sufficient financial resources through bank statements, scholarship documents, or sponsorship
Proof of accommodation such as a rental agreement or university dormitory confirmation
Valid health insurance or proof of comprehensive healthcare coverage
Proof of funds for travel/return expenses
Residence permit application and required supporting documents

Students should submit their application through the appropriate Hungarian immigration procedure and may need to complete the required identification/biometric process. Exact requirements and procedures can vary depending on nationality and circumstances.

Intakes to Study in Hungary

Hungary generally offers two main intakes: Spring and Autumn.

February

Spring Intake

Spring Intake is available for selected programmes and universities. Applications for programmes starting in February are generally submitted several months in advance, with many institutions having deadlines around November.

September

Autumn Intake

Autumn Intake is the main and most popular intake, offering the widest range of Bachelor's and Master's programmes. For self-financed international students, application deadlines commonly fall around February, although exact dates vary by institution and programme.
